Welcome
Being an Independent Author is much like any other kind of independence - empowering but at times lonely.
It’s difficult to admit to this because my social media shows the highs and the wins, I tend not to share my lows. I like to share things that happen in my professional life that encourage others.
The last couple of days have been a bit wobbly for me and I was unsure what I was going to tell you. But the universe delivered via my muse passing me a coffee just as I spotted two new 5 star reviews on Amazon and moments later sold two more signed copies of my book. At this point I was reminded that although at points things slow down and nothing much visible is happening (results to be seen) the seeds are still in growing.
Someone who very much has this to mindset is the incredibly inspiring Lou Coghlan. I was honoured to be invited onto her Facebook Live last week and we had the best time! The minor technical difficulties were a blessing to be honest as I could’t see that 2,000 people were tuned in. So, for me it literally felt that we were just on a videocall.
Lou and I hit it off when you first met in London Writers Salon and the interview showed just how many similarities we have. My favourite was the fact we both can’t sleep unless we have Gilmore Girls playing! The chances! I loved how we just got on the call and chatted, she has a knack for putting you at ease.
I hope that our interview conveyed we all face our own struggles and we are just making our way through the best we can. Which is why my books have this running theme through them all. I have to believe that everything, good or bad, happens for a reason. I feel I’d have given up long ago if I didn’t believe this to be true.
As Lou says good people meet good people and she is absolutely right. I’ve had so many good people appear in my life, especially this year, at exactly the point I’ve wished for them. And I like to hope that I have appeared in their lives at exactly the right time too.
Here are the links to her Facebook page - Living & Laughing with Lou and her Substack - I highly recommend both. I’ve also been reading her book, which is equally as uplifting.

Please try to keep the faith and smile more
